Willow Slough Fish & Wildlife Hands on Habitat Day
The Indiana Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) and Pheasants Forever & Quail Forever (PF & QF) will be hosting a Hands on Habitat Event April 6 at 9 a.m. CT. At this event volunteers can help clean up the newly acquired 172.5-acre parcel that adjoins Willow Slough FWA.
The parcel is very significant because not only will it push the overall size of Willow Slough FWA to over 10,000 acres during the same year the FWA celebrates 75 years as a public property, , but it also is the first parcel bought in Indiana by Pheasants Forever & Quail Forever as part of their Build a Wildlife Area (BAWA) program. The DFW will soon acquire this property from PF & QF and we’ll host a joint dedication in late May. This parcel currently consists of oak forest, savanna, and grassland habitats and is home to a wide array of plant and animal species.
Volunteers can expect to clean up household and construction waste from around the site. By removing this debris, prescribed fire, forestry mulching, and other management techniques will be able to be used to create quality habitat for all species to thrive. Closed- toe shoes, long pants, and gloves are highly recommended. Please bring snacks and water for the workday.

I authorize Pheasants Forever Inc. and Quail Forever to use and publish the same in print and/or electronically. I agree that Pheasants Forever Inc. and Quail Forever may use such photographs of me with or without my name and for any lawful purpose, including for example such purposes as publicity, illustration, advertising, and Web content.
