Doug Duren is a passionate conservationist, land manager, and part-time hunter. He is the owner of Lone Oak Interests, LLC, specializing in site and land management consulting and contracting services. Doug is also the founder of the land access initiative, Sharing the Land.
Doug has worked on a variety of projects with public and private conservation organizations including Pheasants Forever, American Forest Foundation, Aldo Leopold Foundation, Wisconsin DNR, Wisconsin DNR Forestry, My Wisconsin Woods/Driftless Forestry Network, NRCS and FSA.
Duren is a frequent contributor to the Meateater television show, the Meateater podcast and The Meateater Guide to Big Game Hunting. Duren has been a guest on a variety of other podcasts discussing hunting, land conservation, land ownership issues and Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). He has been featured in various regional and national publications for his work in conservation.
Doug will present Sharing the Land, a private land access initiative modeled after Aldo Leopold’s Riley Game Cooperative, that seeks to connect landowners with hunters and private land access seekers to build a land ethic that results in greater connectivity between the three. Doug will also speak about why CWD is one of the biggest conservation challenges of our time and what we can do about it.
