Central VA Quail Forever and James River American Woodcock Society Dog Training Seminar

This class will be open to 15 participants and dogs of all skill levels and ages. Our goal for this seminar is to allow bird dog owners to understand their bird dog’s behavior and provide insight into the skills and methods utilized to build a foundation for beginner, intermediate, and advanced bird dogs. 

The seminar is based on principles of the West-Gibbons training protocol, teaching the owner to read their dog’s behavior and letting the dog decide the course of action on birds.  The three-hour seminar will focus on three topics:

·       Foundational yard work and basic obedience

·       Introduction to the E-collar

·       Age/skill appropriate bird work

Participants will be introduced to the rationale and methods for each topic from the G-W protocol, shown a live demo on a bird dog, then invited to perform the method with their dog.
