All are invited to join the Central VA Chapter of Quail Forever for a volunteer habitat field day at the Robert W Duncan Wildlife Management Area.
I acknowledge that I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19, or another communicable disease(s), by participating in a Pheasants Forever Inc. and/or Quail Forever event or activity, including as a spectator, and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19, or another communicable disease(s), may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to, Pheasants Forever Inc. and/or Quail Forever employees, agents, representatives, volunteers, customers, and any others present on the premises of the event.
We've helped prepare the area for prescribed fires, and hopefully the area has been burned already. We'll be targeting Sericea Lespedeza, a persistant non-native invasive species that doesn't provide much benefit to native wildlife, and tends to crowd out beneficial native species of forbs and grasses. Sericea Lespedeza is one of the first plants to green up in the spring. We'll be spraying the old scale house field.
Volunteers are needed to help spot-spraying areas where we've identified that the S. Lespedeza is growing among beneficial natives, and possibly to assist using a boom sprayer in smaller isolated patches. Larger swaths of the scale house field will be sprayed following departure of volunteers.

Please wear boots, brush clothes, bug spray, glasses, and PPE. Some may prefer to even wear a mask. If you have an sprayer, hand pumped, backpack, or power sprayer that fits on truck/atv, and don't mind bringing it, we'll likely be able to put it to use. Meet at the interior parking lot.
