NoCo Pheasants Forever January Chapter Meeting & Banquet Volunteer Update
Chapter Meeting, Banquet Updates & Guest Speaker Brock McArdle & CASH the wildlife K9 |
Banquet Season is officially upon us! If you are interested in helping us put together our 2024 Banquet in March, we would love to have you join us Thursday, Jan 11th. There are lots of roles that we need volunteers for including help with Auctions, fundraising, games and giveaways, marketing and day-of set up. Our regular chapter meeting and banquet update will start at 6:00pm with our guest speaker starting at 7:00pm. Brock McArdle is the CPW District Wildlife Manager for the Red Feather Lakes District and one of the members of the CPW K-9 Program. He will be giving us an overview of how the program works and all of the incredible things they have accomplished as well as introducing us to CASH, his K-9 partner.
CASH, the black lab partnered with McArdle, is working alongside Colorado Parks and Wildlife to manage the diverse wildlife of the state. Cash began his career with support in part by the Northern Colorado Pheasants Forever Chapter, as we helped cover a portion of his extensive training. Since then, he has participated in crucial biological field surveys for endangered species, contributed to public outreach endeavors on wildlife management, and assisted in investigations of potential illegal hunting activities.
CASH's exceptional skills were showcased during surveys for federally endangered black-footed ferrets and Colorado’s endangered boreal toads. His friendly personality has facilitated connections with various groups, enabling educational talks on wildlife management to reach diverse audiences, from 4H youth members to elementary school science fairs. In addition to traditional educational programs, CASH has made appearances on Denver TV news stations, graced the cover of a nationally published magazine, and been featured on radio shows, highlighting the significant role he plays in managing and protecting Colorado's wildlife.
Beyond educational efforts, K-9 CASH has proven invaluable in wildlife poaching investigations. His nose has assisted in uncovering illegal hunting activities, leading to successful convictions. Without the support of Colorado sportsmen groups like Pheasants Forever and other generous donors, the success of CASH and the broader wildlife K9 program would not be possible, emphasizing the importance of our commitment to preserving and enhancing Colorado's sportsmen heritage.
We would love for you to join us. Please bring a friend, enjoy the program, and see what we are all about. Meeting Details:
