Women On the Wing- Learn to Hunt
This is a 3 day and 2 night program aimed to help women with little to no experience with firearms or hunting. By the end of the weekend ladies will have gained experience with pistols, rifles, shotguns, deer hunting basics, and a practical guide to processing deer, pending a successful Saturday hunt. Ladies will spend Friday afternoon with a DNR instructor focusing on rifle comfort, safety, and deer hunting basics. Saturday, ladies will be paired with a hunting mentor and have the opportunity to complete a morning or evening doe hunt. With high hopes of harvesting several does, Saturday's down time will be spent learning field dressing and processing techniques with optional activities including learning to fish, pistol & shotgun training, as well as watch upland working dog demonstrations! This is a packed weekend at Quail Country Lodge in Arlington, Ga.
We understand many novice outdoors-women might not have firearms or access to hunting equipment. As a program we will be able to provide what is needed to have a fun and successful weekend. We encourage participants to bring their own firearm and ammunition if they would like to become more comfortable with their own equipment.
Participants will be required to purchase a hunting license before arrival on December 9th. Participants will also be sent a pre-assessment of skills survey so we have an idea of the knowledge our participants hold prior to the event. This will help us keep everyone safe as well as help us know how many mentors and staff to invite.
