Hands-on Habitat Workday: McCann Creek Build A Wildlife Area
The Chippewa Valley Chapter of Pheasants Forever welcomes you to come join chapter volunteers and members of the public for an opportunity to improve wildlife habitat on the newly acquired Pheasants Forever McCann Creek Build A Wildlife Area property approximately five miles northeast of Bloomer, WI adjacent to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources McCann Creek Fishery Area. The workday will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 23rd, 2022.
Official meet up location will be at the GPS Coordinate 45.17424, -91.43390
Activities will include removing old barbed wire fence to increase wildlife movement and reduce hazards to hunters and outdoor recreationalists, removing trees and other woody encroachment into existing grasslands, trash pickup, and much more. Additional details will be announced on location the day of the event.
How you can participate
Please register by Wednesday, April 20th, 2022 to ensure we know how many participants will be attending. Please note that some activities will include strenuous physical activity. Please bring a blaze orange vest (for roadside trash pickup), eye and ear protection, work gloves, weather appropriate clothing and work boots (including rubber boots), and a personal water bottle.
If you have tools that you are willing to use during the workday, please consider bringing the following: shovels, claw hammers, lopping shears, fencing pliers/wire cutters, wood saws, and wood haulers (sled, wheelbarrow, cart). Chainsaws would also be useful if you have the proper experience and safety gear.
Lunch, snacks, and beverages will be provided.

Additional recreational opportunities
Feel free to bring a fishing rod and some binoculars to enjoy the natural resources of the area! McCann creek is a class 1 brook trout stream and the area hosts a diversity of wildlife for some great bird watching and general wildlife viewing opportunities.

I understand that I am choosing to participate in this event. I understand that it is incumbent upon me to use the utmost care in the exercise of safety. I intend to do so and realize that I have an affirmative duty to do so. I further realize that Pheasants Forever, Inc., Quail Forever, their members, agents, employees, licensees, volunteers, and associates are participating in this event to give me a quality educational and/or outdoor experience. I understand that I will conduct myself in a manner as to be safe around all the individuals mentioned herein.
Further, I hereby waive all rights to any claim, cause of action, right of litigation of any kind, whatsoever originating from this event.
I grant to Pheasants Forever Inc. and Quail Forever, its representatives and employees the right to take photographs of me and my property in connection with the above-identified subject. I authorize Pheasants Forever Inc. and Quail Forever to use and publish the same in print and/or electronically. I agree that Pheasants Forever Inc. and Quail Forever may use such photographs of me with or without my name and for any lawful purpose, including for example such purposes as publicity, illustration, advertising, and Web content. I have read and understand the above.
