Join the South Central Wisconsin Women’s Pheasants Forever Chapter for a FIRST AID FOR YOUR HUNTING DOG clinic! At this hands on clinic led by local Bird Doggin’ Veterinarian Dr. Kristina Mott, you will learn signs of heat exhaustion, hypothermia, hypoglycemia, how to perform post activity tailgate checks, as well as basic dog maintenance including cleaning your dog’s eyes, ears, and trimming nails. Other topics will include sports injuries, puncture wounds, skin cuts, broken bones, torn nails and torn ACL's, how to administer basic first aid when a vet may be many hours away, and more! She will review what should be in your first aid pack in your truck and what you should carry on you afield.
Ladies, you don’t have to hunt to attend - if you participate in any outdoor activities with your dog, this clinic will benefit you!
What to bring: one dog per paid registrant*, water for you and your dog, a leash, anything you need to be outdoors for the clinic (bug spray, sunglasses, a fan for your dog, sunscreen), a dog kennel, and any other items you feel necessary. Cash is optional as there will be an opportunity to purchase first aid items after the clinic and we encourage you to purchase lunch after to support the Sportsman’s Club.
*Please be respectful of others and their dogs and only bring a well socialized dog that you can control. If there is any aggressive or questionable behavior, we will ask you to put your dog in the kennel and you may finish the class with the group.
Event Location: North Bristol Sportsman’s Club 7229 N Greenway Rd, Sun Prairie, WI 53590
Event Date and Time: Sunday, September 27th at 11am
Event Cost: $10 (link to registration)
COVID concerns: This outdoor clinic is currently limited to 25 participants. Please bring your own face mask as Wisconsin is currently under a state mask mandate. If you are unable to wear one, we ask that you properly social distance. We will be monitoring the state’s orders and progress closely.
