Wisconsin Pheasants Forever and Wisconsin National Wild Turkey Federation are partnering with Waunakee Gun Club to host an Introduction to Shotguns-Learn to Shoot evening event for adults on Wednesday, Sept 15th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. There is a $20 fee for this class, payable on site (cash, check, credit).
The cost covers targets, ammunition (12 or 20 gauge only), ear plugs, Club use, etc. We have several guns available for use during the class or you can bring your own. We provide the ammunition so that we can ensure proper type and factory quality as a means of safety control. We have safety glasses available for use, or you can bring your own. If you wear prescription glasses (preferably sunglasses), you may wear those. Eye and ear protection are required at all times on the course.
The class takes about 2-3 hours. The first 40 minutes is classroom instruction emphasizing safety, Club rules, gun and ammunition information, and technique. This is followed by supervised field instruction, typically in groups of 3-4 students to allow each student many opportunities to use what they've learned. This is a basic shotgunning class - so we will only be working on fundamentals. We limit the class sizes to no more than 10 students to provide more hands on opportunity. It is intended for beginners and often is a great confidence builder.
