Safety and Requirements:

  • Safety of the event participants, mentors, dogs, and property is absolutely paramount. We want to have a fun day but, there will be zero tolerance for any disrespectful or unsafe acts during this event. A parent/legal guardian and the participant must sign and date a participant firearms event waiver. We will collect these prior to the hunt for participants.
  • According to NDGF rules, participating youth hunters must be ages 11-15, have completed hunter safety, and must have a current hunting license. As part of good mentoring, we will ask them to produce their license.
  • Safety glasses must always be worn while handling firearms and during the hunt. Please bring them if you have them. We also have some that can be borrowed.

Tips and Reminders:

  • Dress in layers and wear comfortable clothes and footwear suitable for the field and outdoors. Weather and conditions can change quickly so you want to be comfortable.
  • Wear orange if you have it. We also have some orange vests that can be borrowed.
  • Ensure your youth’s shotgun is clean, safe, and in proper working condition. We can provide a safe youth shotgun for use on a limited basis.
  • We will have mentors and dog handlers to assist with safety and hunting.
  • We will provide shells, clays, ear plugs, food and drinks, and a place to hunt free of charge.
