This is a joint event hosted by Color in the Outdoors and Pheasants Forever designed to give interested adults the skills necessary to hunt deer using a crossbow. The first class meeting on Sept 24 (4 PM to 7 PM) will be focused on teaching crossbow shooting. For the second portion of the class (October 11 and 12), novices will have the opportunity to hunt deer using a crossbow in the company of an experienced mentor. Basic meals will be provided as well as crossbows, bolts, blinds, and deer processing equipment. Students will have the option of camping at the Wild Oaks Preserve near New Glarus or securing their own lodging. Event times appear as "September 24 through October 12." Please note, however, that the class does NOT run continuously between these dates. The skills class takes place on Sept 24 and the hunt takes place on October 11 and 12. You must have earned your HUNTER EDUCATION CERTIFICATION to participate in this course.
