Mentored Waterfowl Hunt
The Yuma Desert Doves Pheasants Forever Chapter is inviting you to a unique experience: We are offering the opportunity for a Waterfowl Hunt at Cibola Lake in the Cibola Wildlife Refuge Area. This event is co-sponsored by AZ Ducks Unlimited, AZGFD and FWS. Limited spots available!
Participants will drive to the Cibola Wildlife Refuge Area on Fri evening, 1/13/23, stay overnight and will hunt during the morning of Saturday, 1/14/23. Depending on demand and game presence there might be an opportunity for an afternoon hunt.
Participants will hunt from blinds in the Cibola Lake area under guidance of a mentor. Dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday will be provided.
Dry-camping will be available for the overnight stay. There are also potential accommodations (Cabin, private residence, etc.) that are to be determined at this time. We will update this information as soon as we know more.
Requirements for participants:
- must be experienced in usage of a shotgun
- must have waterproof footwear
- must provide shotgun and ammo (STEEL SHOT only!) ---- NOTE: Some shotguns are available to be borrowed by request before the event
- must have hunting license, Federal Duck Stamp and Migratory Bird Stamp
- must have Goose Hunt Permit (ONLY for participants wanting to hunt goose, see DEADLINE below)
The focus of the hunt will be on duck hunting, but if a participant would like to hunt goose, they need to apply for a Goose Hunt Permit by MAILING the Hunt Application Form to the refuge by Wednesday, NOVEMBER 1, 2022!
