Participants will learn basic strategies for hunting upland birds such as proper equipment, where to hunt, safe shooting practices, and how to field dress, butcher and cook them.
The course runs from 6PM to 9PM and is designed for female participants 18 years of age and older. The course is $35 and will be held at Olofson Shooting Range near Polk City, IA. The event also includes two mentored hunts on Saturday on October 14th (Preserve Hunt) and November 18th at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge. Space is limited so be sure to register right away. Participants will receive a hat, vest and a membership provided by Pheasants Forever.
Participants must complete hunter education prior to the course or purchase the Apprentice Hunting License. A valid Iowa Hunting License, Habitat Fee and Hunting Preserve Fee is required and can be purchased at gooutdoorsiowa.com
