We are pleased to invite you to submit abstracts for the 2025 Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic Upland Bird Technical & Student Poster Sessions, scheduled for March 7-9, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. We are seeking innovative research projects focusing on upland bird conservation, habitat management, and related fields. This is an excellent opportunity to present your work to a diverse audience of professionals, students, and enthusiasts committed to advancing conservation efforts.

Submit your abstract HERE by October 10th, 2024, for priority consideration for this event. We look forward to reviewing your innovative ideas and contributions.

Who is Pheasants Forever & Quail Forever

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever, the leading organization in wildlife conservation, is dedicated to conserving pheasants, quail, and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public access, education, and conservation advocacy. We understand the need to connect the best new information with our passionate and dedicated practitioners and are excited to offer the Research Symposium at Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic to share the best practices and research in conservation, habitat management, and related fields.

Why Participate?

National Exposure: This event provides a rare opportunity for students—both undergraduates and graduates—to present their research on a national stage, reaching landowners, professionals, and conservation enthusiasts alike.

Professional Networking: Students will have the chance to connect with industry professionals, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever coordinators, and directors who are actively seeking new talent. Additionally, they can engage with representatives from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Fish & Wildlife, and other key partners.

Conservation Career Pathways: Our "Journey to Conservation Careers" program is designed to inspire the next generation of conservationists. By participating, students can present to high school attendees and guide them on their path to a career in conservation, further enhancing the impact of their research. Presenters will also have the opportunity to continue their journey by networking with professionals, upland enthusiasts, and guest speakers.

What to Expect

Research Poster Session: Students will have two dedicated one-hour sessions on Saturday to present their research posters. Professionals and the Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever community will review and vote on the best posters

Networking Opportunities: We will provide a networking space for participants to engage with our coordinators, directors, and partners. Enjoy discussions, round tables, and refreshments as you connect with like-minded individuals.

Poster Presenter’s Award: All poster presenters will receive a student membership to Pheasants Forever or Quail Forever, and poster winners will be awarded gift cards from Scheel’s for the top three voted posters ($500 for 1st place, $250 for 2nd place, and $150 for 3rd place).

Acceptance and Travel Support: Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever and our partners will provide stipends for 10 selected students, more if funding allows. Successful applicants will be eligible for travel stipends (up to $500) to help cover travel costs. Our hope is to reduce barriers to access for Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic for any accepted poster. Based on sponsor contributions, students with additional needs for travel may apply for additional stipend.

Poster Specifications: Posters should be prepared in landscape orientation with dimensions of 48 inches (width) by 36 inches (height).
