Join the Mark Twain Chapter of Quail Forever for their annual dove hunt! Please follow the directions below to find the dove field:
Directions from the intersection of Route D and Hwy. 15 to dove hunt site.
- Head East on State Hwy. D toward Santa Fe, MO for 6 miles.
- Turn Right (south) onto State Hwy. Z and go 1.5 miles.
- Turn Left (east) onto Monroe County Rd. 616 and go 1.5 miles. This road is gravel.
- Turn Right (south) onto a private road and proceed 1 mile, past the dove fields and to a marked parking area.
The route will be marked the evening prior to each hunt and the parking lot area clearly identified. If conditions on the private road are not appropriate for most vehicles, we will provide other transportation from the gravel road to the dove fields. 09/07 Morning Hunt
6:15 A.M. Mentors arrive and check-in at Kendrick's Dove Field
6:30 A.M. Hunters Arrive
- Registration and snacks
- Mentor Pairing
- Gun/dove hunt safety
7:00-9:00 A.M. Dove Hunt (No Shooting until all hunters are placed)
- All hunters in field if birds are flying
- Dove cleaning station will be available
9:00-9:30 A.M. Recap and Pictures
9:30-10:00 A.M. Participants head home
Tips and FAQ's
- Camouflage is helpful, but if you don't have camo, dress in dark clothes.
- Bring Something to sit on. A chair, stool, or bucket will all suffice.
- 12 & 20 Ga. Ammo will be supplied by the chapter. If you would like to shoot a different gauge, please bring your own shells.
- Ear plugs and safety glasses will be supplied by the chapter.
- The chapter will supply some dove decoy setups, but feel free to bring your own.
- A dove cleaning station will be available with volunteers to help clean birds. Please bring a small cooler to transport game home.
