Women's Chainsaw Safety Training
Women Landowners! Pheasants Forever, the University of Illinois Extension Forestry Program and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Services’ Partners for Fish and Wildlife are excited to offer a beginner’s chainsaw safety training workshop for woman landowners. These workshops aim to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to operate a chainsaw safely and confidently, and essential tool in prairie, savanna, and forest restoration.
Join us for a hands-on, field training for Beginner Chainsaw Safety at an active Hills Prairie and Oak Savanna Restoration at the Strut & Rut Hunting Lodge.
Participants will be trained in safe use of chainsaws, safety gear to use, chainsaw cleaning/maintenance, and an opportunity to practice these skills with experts. This is a workshop and not a certification course. Wear long pants and sturdy boots. We will have PPE and chainsaws on hand to use, but feel free to bring your own chainsaws and PPE (chaps, helmets, hearing & eye protection) if you have them.
Space is limited to 15 participants; this training will fill to capacity. Register early.
Participants are required to:
· Wear long pants and work boots
· Bring their own snacks, water, and sack lunch
Optional:
· Bring chainsaws and PPE (chaps, helmets, hearing & eye protection). If you don't have them, we will provide them for you
· Bring a camping chair to use on breaks
