This is a great opportunity to learn about small engines, herbicide use, and other habitat management techniques in grasslands and oak woodlands in a supportive environment, or tome simply have a great time improving public lands habitat with a group of hard-working women. Hang out at Dottie's Ranch, on site, for some post-event networking and conservation conversations.
Activities include: chainsaw and brush cutter use; herbicide use; brush pile burning (conditions permitting); observing habitat improvement projects; and socializing with snacks.
Expect do some walking off-trail and physical activity. Wear clothes that can get beat up and dirty. Tools will be provided. Restroom on site. Limited snacks provided. Bring your own water, gloves, and safety glasses if you have them.
All participants will need to sign a DNR volunteer form. Any volunteer who would like to use a chainsaw will be required to show proof of enrollment in a chainsaw safety course.
